About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Race Report: Queens Park Quacker 27/07/2012

Race Report: Queens Park Quacker 5k (Race 2 of 3) – 27/07/12
Friday evening, just back from holiday & pre-Olympic opening ceremony I decided I’d run the 2nd in the Queens Park Quacker Series.  These are a series of 3 x 5k races organised by our friends at South Cheshire Harriers around Queens Park in Crewe & held on the last Friday of June/July/August.
Me running quickly! (Photo courtesy of racephotos.org)

The run involves a lap of the park before heading out along the ‘new’ cycle path connecting Crewe to Nantwich.  A quick turn-around at the end then back into the park for a shorter lap & the finish.
Definitely a PB potential course compared to Hanley Park Run or Lyme 5k.
Videos of the start & finish are available at http://www.racephotos.org.uk/ & more race details at http://www.southcheshireharriers.org.uk/clubraces/5k_series/5k_main.php
I’ll be running the last in the series on 31st August @ 19:00 so hope to see some of you there!

Giles
