About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Race Report: Anglesey Half

An early alarm wake up call (5.30am ðŸ˜£) meant it was Anglesey Half Marathon day. Sometimes I wonder why we put ourselves through it, and this was how I was definitely feeling at this unsociable hour in the morning. A hot shower and mug of tea soon lifted my spirits.

Press release – February 2017

Here is a round up of the races participated in by members of the club throughout February.

Mad Dog 10K
4 Striders took part in this race along the Southport promenade.  With live band ever kilometer and a mix of serious and fun runners in fancy dress, it is always a race which puts a smile of striders faces, despite being blasted by the wind off the sea!

Race Report - Carsington Water half marathon

It was one of those days when you couldn't decide what to wear. The ambient temperature was mild but there was a strong,  cold wind. I went armed with virtually every clothing combination.

Race Report - Knypersley Pool 5 Mile Charity Race

Biddulph Running Club, held there annual 'Mayors Charity Race' today at Knypersley Pool, it's a 5 mile trail run around knypersley pool reservoir, followed by a long uphill climb through woodland, over biddulph moor before returning around the lake back to the finish. It's a challenging course, very muddy (trail shoes a must) but equally rewarding with some beautiful scenery.
