We aim to be a welcoming, inclusive and friendly group. Whoever you are and whatever your standard, you can be assured of a warm welcome with us.
Our members are a cosmopolitan bunch - we have a good mixture of young and old, male and female and have runners from all walks of life. Even a couple of dogs.
We encourage prospective members to come and run with us, there is absolutely no obligation to join for the first month - come and give us a try!
We normally run 5-6 miles (9-10km) on our training runs, but there are Striders who run less. if you aren't confident about getting round that distance do contact us, we'll be happy to organise a small group to run with you and we can even help with a training plan to help you achieve your goals.
if you want to say hello or would like some more information, feel free to drop our Chairman, Michael an email on:
How much is it to join?
Normal club membership is just £10 per quarter, but you can run with us for the first month for nothing and with no obligation. Membership forms can be downloaded here in Word or PDF.
What is included in my membership?
You become a member of UK Athletics which gives you running insurance plus a £2 discount on most race entries. We also give each member a free running vest on joining. We arrange several running or training opportunities each week which are all free to members. Each year we subsidise a camping weekend (which in 2013 included free camping and a free race entry). We have numerous social events throughout the year including a big annual awards party which we also partially subsidise. In short, we work hard to give our members a full and enjoyable running experience!
Where do you meet?
We meet at Elworth Cricket Club on London Road Sandbach, CW11 3BF
When do you meet?
We run on the road on Wednesdays at 6:30pm, off-road or other training sessions on Mondays at 6:30pm and Congleton parkrun every Saturday at 9:00am, there are also longer runs by arrangement each Sunday at 9:00am.
Are you all elite athletes?
Far from it! We have a real mixture of ages and abilities. Our members run everything from 5k fun runs to fell races and marathons. We have one thing in common - our love of running.
What can I expect on my first visit?
A warm welcome. A group of friendly, like-minded people to chat to and run with. Plenty of encouragement and challenge to help you improve or to achieve your goals.
Can I get more information?
You are welcome to email any of us at the club (see the Contacts page for more details.) We'll be happy to chat to you and help you in anyway we can. We also have a members handbook, the latest edition of which can be downloaded here in Word or PDF.
We hope to see you soon!
