Race Report: Dave Clarke 5 23/08/2012

Tonight I ran my first ever Dave Clark 5 race.  This race is held in memory of Dave Clark who was a founder member of the Trentham Running Club’s committee,  a keen cyclist, avid fan of Grand Prix and Moto GP and my hubby’s mate.  There is a race limit of 250 and tonight there must have been a field of over 190 runners.

Race Report: Belper Rugby Rover 19/08/2012

Ok, so Last week I ran the Cross Bay Challenge and really struggled. I got annoyed with my running; I was sick at the end and felt like ending my running career there and then.

Perry and Paul on the start line raring to go.

So what’s the best remedy for that? Well, mine was to do the ridiculous, try a 30k Fell

Latest news about John Lawton

Since the 8th April when our club mate and friend John Lawton went missing during a mountain marathon in Greece, hundreds of people have spent thousands of hours searching for him.
Hundreds more people have donated time and money to the search effort and today it is with great sadness mixed with relief that those efforts have succeeded and his body has been found.
Our thoughts are now with his wife, children and grandchildren as they come to terms with the news.
We will continue to miss you John and you will forever be a part of this club.
Rest in Peace John Lawton 1949 - 2012

Race Report: Preston Parkrun 11/08/2012

Well, the time had come. This time there would be no escaping it, I would be doing my first Parkrun. On this occasion my hands were tied. I needed to go to the post office in Lancaster and get an international driving license for my upcoming holiday, and Mik was going that way to run a Parkrun in Preston. So the off shoot was, I could run to Lancaster as we were camping for the Cross Bay Challenge, or I could run the Parkrun and get a lift to Lancaster. No choice really, Parkrun all the way. So I had also an unexpected bit of competition, my son George had opted to run the Parkrun as well. Having watched him the day before knock out a 3 mile 19 minute run on the tread-mill I thought I would be lagging much behind him, but more on that later.

Race Report: Dovedale Mini Mountain Marathon 25/07/2012

On this hot and balmy Wednesday evening, 8 Sandbach Striders travelled to Thorpe Mill Farm, Dovedale, in the Peak District, to take part in a mini mountain marathon. The event was open to fell runners, road runners and strong walkers, and involved scoring as many points as possible within 2 hours.
The clock has started so it's time for frantic route planning.

Teams of one or two were allowed. However we did team up to make threes.

Race Report: Great Warford 10m 29/07/2012

Having struggled to improve on any of my Pbs this year, I decided a different tactic was needed so I entered for a distance I have never run before therefore guaranteeing a pb.
