About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

"No Ordinary Running Club!"

How to find us

We are based at Elworth Cricket Club, which is on the main road between Sandbach town centre and Middlewich.

Coming from the Sandbach end, we are about 50 metres past The Fox pub, on the opposite side. Adequate car parking is available at the Cricket Club.

Be careful when driving in the dark, as the entrance is not obvious on the first visit. Look out for a stone wall painted white.

Sandbach Super 6

Length: 7 miles  (to and from club)

This is the route for the Sandbach Super 6 10k race. It is also a popular Wednesday night training route during the lighter months. The route we run is slightly longer than the offical race route as we start from the club and not the footbridge.

It's mixed terrain although mostly on road, there are also sections of bridal path and a short jaunt across grass.

This is the route for the winter training route which we usually run on a Wednesday evening. It's a route around the outskirts of Sandbach town centre. It's a well lit route and mostly on pavementwhich makes it a good choice for when it's cold and dark.
