About us
Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.
The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.
Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Race Report: Striding Sandstone 23/03/2014
In aid of Cancer Research UK South Cheshire Harriers were hosting an informal 6 miles or 15 miles known as the Striding Sandstone.
This was a fabulous off-road course that started and finished at the Candle workshop near Burwardsley with many, many, many climbs, lots of mud, no stiles but lots of gates.

Race Report: Liverpool Half-marathon 24/03/2014
When I realised that my sister had taken up running, I said that she should consider training for a half and asked her to join me on the Liverpool half.
Being a true Kenyon (our maiden name), she took up the challenge. Jacqueline, my sister lives in Germany and has spent the last 6 months training for her first half. This was however, going to be my 8th Liverpool half.

Race Report: Hardmoors 55m 22/03/2014
A hard moor too far....
Well it was time, after months and months of training more training some lazy days and some more training the time had come to go and test my self in a tough event. The HM 55 caries 2 UTMB qualification points has 2700meters of climb (8000ft for you oldies) and takes place in some of the most bleak moorland countryside coupled with the most spectacular countryside in the UK.

Race Report: Stafford 20m 09/03/2014
In a bid to reach 100 marathons my running last year became all about quantity
rather than quality.
Minutes per mile gave way to just completing the distance and if it involved flapjack and carrot cake at various checkpoints then all the better.

The Millennium Way within a day ultra
(Or 38 miles in hell)
Why o why do I do it was the thought of this one. I had been talked in to this event by a few people I know and in particular Mat Simister had assured me that it was the right thing to do.
(Or 38 miles in hell)
All smiles, before the feet problems. |
