The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

Chris Brumby and Jill Young decided to challenge themselves with a longer run n Staurdya at the Charnwood Marathon near the village of Quorn in Leicestershire, This scenic but tough marathon is a challenging off-road course. Chris finished in 5:06:40 whilst Jill finished in 6:37:27

Sunday was an unusual day for one of Sandbach Srtriders. When Jason Bulley drove to Milton Keynes to support a friend running their 100th marathon he certainly wasn't expecting to end up running the marathon himself. When he arrived at the start of the marathon it turned out his friend Kate Jayden had started with a few other runners an hour earlier. The race organiser duly issued Jason with a number and set him off in pursuit of Kate. She had run and incredible 9 marathons in 9 days so wasn't likely to be moving at her usual pace. Jason completed the marathon in 3hrs 53mins and despite running the second half faster than the first he still missed catching up with Kate by two minutes.

Also on Sunday Lucy Darling joined South Cheshire Harriers to run their annual Striding Sandstone outing in aid of Cancer Research. This is a fabulous off-road course of 6 miles that started and finished at the Candle workshop near Burwardsley with many climbs and lots of mud. The route included beautiful views of Beeston and Peckforton castles and the Cheshire plane. Any runner is welcome to attend for a donation to Cancer Research.
