About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Race Alert! High Legh 10k 26/02/2012

100% of last year's runners who contacted Runners World said that they would run the High Legh 10K again - so don't delay. Race registration is progressing even faster than last year. We have got permission to have up to 400 places this year, so if you register now you can still get a place in the acclaimed Best Small Race in Britain.

Over 275 places have already been taken up, so don't delay, because the word is getting out - publicity is increasing.

Charge £14 (£12 for UKA affiliated runners) + 50p for card processing

Same course, same friendly marshalls Homemade cakes to follow? (Natch!) - High Legh activities always have cake - it's a local bylaw (or byword) It will be the same fast, fairly level course as in 2011, finishing at High Legh Primary School, where the Parent Teachers Association has agreed to provide the hot and cold drinks, hot sausage barm cakes and home made cakes that have been so much appreciated by runners in previous years.
