The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Race Report: The Wizard 5 12/07/2012

The Wizard 5  is a great race for those wanting to dabble in off road running whilst not getting too muddy or going to far.  It is about a third track, a third grassy fields and a third road so the terrain is not too testing.
Heather, Perry and Liz all smiles before the race.

However with 6 stiles, several cattle grids and more hills than the average Sandbach runner is used to, this was never going to be a fast race.  What we lacked in speed though we made up for in enthusiasm (at least Liz did).  Perry and I were not feeling in tip-top condition – always a good excuse for a disappointing time – however Perry surprised himself with a great run, beating his previous time by more than a minute.

I entered this race on the basis of a hazy recollection of having enjoyed it last year.  However, time had  dimmed the memory of the gradient and number of hills and I found the race particularly gruelling.

Nevertheless I'm pretty sure I'll enter again next year!
