About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news: 14/09/2015

Members of Sandbach Striders running club were represented in four of the free weekly 5k parkruns held each Saturday morning around the country.

Eight Striders ran the Congleton parkrun at Astbury Mere, although for the second week running there were no new personal best times.

Tony Taylor ran the Ormskirk parkrun, coming 5th in a time of 19:41. Paul Barnett ran the Princes parkrun in Liverpool in a time of 22:31.

Grant Stanning ran the Winchester parkrun finishing the three lap course a time of 32:45.

Grant was back in action the morning after at the Bacchus Marathon. Starting and finishing at Denbie’s vineyard in Dorking, Surrey this event is a British challenge the popular French Marathon du Médoc where competitors sample wine as they complete the 26.2 mile route through the Bordeaux vineyards, often in fancy dress.

Steve Farnell participated in the North-West sprint triathlon, completing the event in a time of  1:24:37

Craig Edwards and Fran Gilchrist completed the 35 mile Gritstone Grind race. Francis finished in a time of 8:02:16 with Craig narrowly behind in 8:02:26.
