About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news: 21/09/2015

Members of Sandbach Striders running club were for the second week represented in four different 5k parkruns held each Saturday morning around the country.

Five Striders were at Astbury Mere to run the Congleton parkrun, Alice Bober earned herself a new personal best time and James Boon made his parkrun debut after joining Sandbach Striders just a few weeks earlier.



Denis Culloty ran the Fell Foot parkrun in Newby Bridge in the Lake District, finishing the course in 28:39. 

Paul Barnett ran the Croxteth Hall parkrun in Liverpool, finishing in 22:09.
Michael Escolme ran the Wakefield Thornes parkrun in West Yorkshire, a hilly one lap route which takes in Clarence, Holmfield and Thornes Parks on the periphery of the city centre. Michael finished in 32:02.

Seventeen Striders travelled to Birmingham to run the Canal Canter, a 26 mile route around the extensive canal network of the city of Birmingham. Heather Carter was first female to finish in a time of 4 hours 4 minutes.

Four Striders headed north up the M6 to Warrington to participate in the English half-marathon running festival. Moe Dutton and Gillian Fallows both ran the 10k route and both continued their run of good form with new personal best times. Gillian finishing in 54:45 with Moe narrowly behind in 57:34. Philip Truman and Wendy Barnes both ran the half-marathon distance, with Philip finishing in 2:10:59 with Wendy coming in just behind in 2:13:22.

Tom Mayell was in Stockport to run the Big Stockport 10k. Tom finished the course in a time of 45:20.

Tony Taylor was in Wales to participate in the Abersoch half-marathon. Tony finished in a time of 1:29:09 coming first in the V50 category.
