About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news: 02/02/2015

On Monday members of Sandbach Striders running club began the week with a track training session at the Cumberland Athletics Arena in Crewe.

Using a 10k training method used by Olympic athlete Jo Pavey, it involves runners interspersing fast 800m runs with slower 400m recovery runs.



Ten members of Sandbach Striders ran the ever popular free weekly Congleton parkrun, although no-one managed to register a new personal best time this weekend.

Whilst over in Northern Ireland Michael Escolme joined 129 other intrepid runenrs to brave the gale force winds of the Bangor parkrun. Which consisted of three laps of Ward Park in the attractive seaside town of Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland. Michael finished in 24:09

The Alsager 5, a popular 5 mile road race occurred on Sunday. Starting at Alsager Leisure Centre 896 runners ran the circuit of Alsager town centre.

Also in action on Sunday was Chris Brumby who ran the Charnwood Hills Race. This notoriously tough 22km race starts in the village of Charnwood in Leicestershire. Chris finished the race in 2:22:36

The popular free 10 week Couch to 5k programme starts again on Wednesday 4th February at Elworth Cricket Club. Whether you are new to running or returning after a break you will be made very welcome and we'll do our best to support you in your running adventures!
