About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Thirteen members of Sandbach Striders Running Club ran the free weekly 5k parkrun at Astbury Mere near Congleton.

Four Striders managed to run new personal best times; Darren Varley who finished 6th overall, Denise Dowling, Amy Norman and young Thomas Taylor.

Meanwhile Craig Edwards found himself running the Wolverhampton parkrun. Located in West Park, a large ornamental Victorian era park near the centre of this West Midlands city. Craig finished the course in 28:23.

Further north in the West Cumbrian town of Workington, Alice Bober ran the Workington parkrun, an out and back route along a cycle path starting and finishing at Workington Leisure Centre. Alice finished the course in 25:05.

On Sunday, Stella Stilwell and Denis Culloty travelled north up the M6 to participate in the Parbold Hill Race. Located near Skelmersdale, this popular 6.75 mile multi-terrain route challenged the 464 participants with a variety of tough climbs. Stella finished in 1:12:44, whilst Denis finished shortly behind in 1:22:39.

Fourteen Striders ran the Wrexham Village Bakery Half-marathon on Sunday. Starting and finishing at the Clubhouse on Wrexham Industrial Estate the fast, flat route of this event is popular with runners from all over the region. Lindsay Beech completed her first half-marathon after completing the couch-to-5k programmer last Spring.
