About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Race Report: Arley Hall 10k 29/06/2014

I did the Arley Hall 10k this morning.
Perry at the Arley Hall 10k
The race was delayed by fifteen minutes to allow competitors to use the toilets, almost 500 runners plus all the spectators and only 6 portaloos.

The route was almost entirely on road with only 200m on good track by the start and finish arch. This would be a good PB course if you were fit, (which I'm not), as all the roads were closed to traffic and it was quite flat.

This was a nice run, a single anti-clockwise loop through quiet country lanes with a drinks station at 5k. The race was well marshalled with lots of parking very close to the start and it was also chip timed.

I finished in 55:02, first and only Strider home.

(Unfortunately I donated blood a couple of days ago, so felt wiped out with nothing in my legs... hey ho)
