About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

News from Sandbach Striders 28/07/2014

Members of Sandbach Striders took part in three 5k parkruns at the weekend. First was Lucy Lee who ran the Reading parkrun in 26:30.

Ten Striders also ran the parkrun at Congleton. Craig Edwards was first Strider home earning a new personal best time in the process.

Over in North-west Lincolnshire, Michael Escolme ran his 100th parkrun at the Conkers outdoor adventure park in the heart of the National Forest. Finishing the course in 27:53 Michael helped Conkers to a new attendance record of 524 runners.

A few hours later Michael was with Jason Bulley on the start line of the Adidas Thunder Run. The Thunder Run is a 24 hour endurance running event open to individuals, pairs and teams of up to 8 runners, which both Striders had entered as solo competitors.

The event takes place at Catton Park in Walton-on-Trent, Derbyshire. Each lap consists of a 10km cross-country circuit with 150m of climb.
