About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

News from Sandbach Striders 30/06/2014

Twelve members of Sandbach Striders ran the free weekly 5k parkrun at Astbury Mere with three of them recording new personal best times.

 After coming joint first in her age category at the Dig Deep ultra-marathon just a week earlier, club secretary Heather Carter knocked almost two minutes off her parkrun best. 

Heather was closely followed by Lindsay Beeston who continues to improve his times since joining the club. Sarah Feaver having recently completed the free couch-to-5k course also registered a new personal best time.

Also in parkrun action was Andrew Gibson who made the short journey north to participate in the Warrington parkrun. Andrew finished the run in 24:19

On Sunday three Striders ran the inaugural Rhyl marathon. Starting and finishing on the sea-front of the scenic seaside town in North Wales this two lap course featured the ever-present sunshine that makes this region such a popular holiday destination. Paul Nicholls ran a new personal best time, running under 4 and a half hours for the first time In a marathon.

Also on Sunday was the Arley Hall 10k which took place in and around the extensive grounds of this impressive Cheshire stately home. Perry Wyatt finished the course in 55:02

11 year old Molly Pheasey, eldest daughter of long standing Strider Clare competed in the Cholmondeley triathlon on Sunday. Molly swam in open water for 200m, cycled for 4km and ran for a further 2km
