About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news: 31/03/2014



At Congleton parkrun on Saturday morning, nine Striders ran the three laps of Astbury Mere four of whom ran new personal best times. 

Rick Kelso-Davies and Martin Gunther showed the benefits that a disciplined marathon training regime can bring, whilst new Strider Andrew Gibson recorded his third consecutive improvement in 5k time. Karen Lovatt also earned a new personal best showing that hard wok and a determination to succeed can pay dividends.

On Sunday, two popular local 10k races were ran. At Arley Hall the Cheshire 10k consisted of a flat fast lap on the roads around Antrobus. Five Striders complete the course:

Over the border in Staffordshire Liz O’Keeffe spent the perfect Mother’s Day running the Newcastle 10k. Liz improved on her time from last year by over a minute finishing in just over 57 minutes.
