About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news 23/11/2015

Nine members of Sandbach Striders Running Club ran the free weekly 5k parkrun at Astbury Mere in Congleton. Darren Varley finished in first position with Tony Taylor coming in third. Jaynie Turner completed her first ever parkrun.

Paul Barnett ran the parkrun at Princes Park in Liverpool, finishing in a time of 21:53. Grant Stanning elected to run the parkrun at Penryhn Park in Bangor, North Wales finishing in a time of 28:50.

Darren Varley was back in action the next day I the Chorley fire 10k finishing in a new PB of 37.13
At the Conwy Half-marathon in North Wales , six Striders ran the 13.1 mile route along the Conwy river towards Llandudno Pier and the Great Orme.

Paul Nicholls travelled over to West Yorkshire to run the Kirkstall Abbey marathon, finishing the course in 5:20.

Martin Gunther travelled over to Cleethorpes to run the Maravan. Despite suffering a shin injury, Martin finished this 7 lap course of a caravan park near the Lincolnshire coast in a time of 4:55:21.
