About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Club 10k Results 17/06/2015

A big well done to all of the 56 Striders who finished last night's Club 10k Race! The rain finally cleared to leave us with a warm and humid evening, not ideal running weather by any means but it could have been a lot worse!

There were some absolutely terrific performances with the first 10 runners all finishing sub-45 minutes. As usual a bit of healthy club competition drove some Striders on to achieving new personal best times.

As in previous years this event was the first 10k for several new Striders, who did exceptionally way to battle their way around the course on a warm and humid evening.

The evening couldn't have gone ahead without help from non-running Striders who all performed a number of important jobs on the night - many thanks to those who gave up their time to make this evening possible:

  • Jason for all the hard work with the photographs
  • Isobel, Rachel, Cheryl and Paul for keeping everyone safe out on the course
  • Jo for tail-running
  • Perry and Hannah for helping out at the start/finish.

Here are the full results - please do let me know if I've missed off pb or if it was your debut 10k.

If you are a paying member of the club then you should have access to the 'members only' Facebook group where Jason has kindly posted nearly 200 photos from the night

The next event in the club's Summer Series is the Club Handicap 10k on Wednesday 15th July. On this night we run the Sandbach 10k route once more, only starting at the club so it's ever so slightly longer. The twist is that each runner has a different start time, the theory being if we have done our calculations correctly then we all finish at roughly the same time!
The first three over the line, not looking quite as comfortable then!
