Race Report: Chester Half-marathon 17/05/2015
My alarm clock woke me up, at the rather unsociable time of 6am on Sunday 17th of May, it was the 'Chester Half Marathon' day, and an early race start of 9am, meant I had to be on the move early.
Arriving in Chester in good time, I parked and walked to the start area, Chester Racecourse. The Chester Half is one of the bigger halfs, with 7000 runners entered. There were seven striders taking part in this event, John Wright, Chris Holden, Christine Bunte, Lucy Lee, Phil Truman, Karen Lovatt and myself, being such a big event, I never saw any of them beforehand, as it was a sea of runners.

Race Report; Cader Idris Fell Race 16/05/2015
I’ve never taken part in a fell race before so when Steve Treweeks posted on Facebook that he had entered the Cader Idris Fell Race and invited me along it seemed like a great idea.
Having consumed a couple of recreational beverages I convinced myself it couldn’t be that hard and dutifully signed up, having registered I then took the wise decision to research what I’d let myself in for. I recognise that there are a lot of tough races out there and the use of the word ‘tough’ is subjective so rather than tell you how ‘tough’ this race purports to be I’ll just tell you that the race is a category A Fell Race meaning there is at least 250ft of climb per mile and according to my Garmin we climbed around 3400 feet over 10.5 miles (The Killer Mile registered just over 500 feet).

Race Report: Manchester & London Marathons
When I found out that the 2015 London Marathon fell exactly 10 years after I ran my last marathon and a year since I joined Sandbach Striders, it seemed like the perfect race to reacquaint myself with marathon running.

A huge well done to all 42 participants in tonight's club relay! There was an absolutely fantastic atmosphere on Plant Lane and it was terrific to see Sandbach Striders cheer each other on in the true tradition of the club.

Boot Camp Report! 04/05/2015
The May Day Holiday saw the first of this season's boot camps organised and led by our Social Secretary Karen.
On a fine spring evening in Sandbach park, 18 Striders braved the potential humiliation that only a public press-up or burpee can bring!

Race Report: Mow Cop Killer Mile 30/04/2015
The Killer Mile is fast becoming a tradition where I work in Kidsgrove, for the 3rd year in a row I’ve helped a team of runners of mixed abilities train to run the infamous race which is quite literally on our doorstep. This year I’m proud to say we took a team of 23 runners who were also raising money for Help4Heroes. The team have been training since January and I’m proud to say every one of them made it up to the top.

Race Report: Saddleworth Cake Race 10m Trail Race 02/05/2015
Saddleworth Running Club, held there annual 'Cake Race', on Saturday 2nd May. This is a 10 mile fell race with a difference. If you bake a cake beforehand you get free entry, can't be bad, what's more, at the end of the race all the runner's get to enjoy eating the cake with tea afterwards. I didn't need a lot of persuading to do this race.
This Week's News: 04/05/2015
The infamous annual Mow Cop Killer Mile took place last Thursday.
Organised by the Mow Cop Residents’ Association this event consists of a series of separate races of one mile long starting from the base of Mow Cop and heading towards its summit. The route includes a stretch up the fourth steepest road in Britain which at its worst is a 25% incline. Race Report: Blackpool Half-marathon 26/04/2015
“Once more unto the beach!” After our wet and windy half marathon in Blackpool on 22 February, we arrived last Sunday morning to be greeted by blue skies, fluffy white clouds, and a cool NNW breeze of about 8mph and an air temp of around 9oC.

Race Report: Mow Cop Killer Mile 30/04/2015
I decided a while ago I would like to attempt the Mow Cop Killer Mile, so I printed off the entry form and ticked the Club runner’s entry box and then in my wisdom I also ticked the Veterans’ race.
Having mentioned this to a number of family member’s friends etc it appears they all think I am mad, but I have since told them that Steve Farnell’s entered all 4, now he’s very mad was the reply.

Race Report: London Marathon 26/04/2015
I started running in 2005 completing my first half marathon at Congleton as a 20 a day smoker and considerably bulkier than I am today thanks to spending endless hours in what used to be Lain’s Gym in Sandbach. I then gave running a rest for a couple of years before again starting and joining the Sandbach Striders.
