Race Report: Newcastle 10k 29/03/2015

Newcastle  (Staffs) AC, held there annual 10k road race on Sunday 29th March. Denis and myself were the two Striders taking part in this race. Denis had some unfinished business at this race, after not being happy with last year's time (1 hr 2 mins), for me it was an opportunity to sharpen up for some future races.

This Week's News: 29/03/2015

Of the 173 finishers at the free weekly parkrun at Congleton, 16 were members of Sandbach Striders Running Club. This included two more members of the couch-to-5k group, Barbara Evans and Claire Dalton, who started only eight weeks ago but have already achieved their target of running a full 5k without stopping. Two Striders earned themselves new personal best times, Amy Norman and John Wright who ran his second parkrun.

Race Report: Coniston 14m Trail Race 21/03/2015

On Sat 21st March I did the beautiful and challenging Coniston 14 road race.

There was just under 14 miles of fantastic scenery with enough ups and downs to keep the legs working.

Race Report: Wilmslow Half-marathon 22/03/2015 #2

I’d booked a place in the Wilmslow Half with a view to using it as part of build up to my first London Marathon which has taken me 7 attempts to get in!

If I’m honest, things haven’t exactly gone to plan, and I’ve suffered so many illnesses and injuries since Christmas I’ve begun to worry that someone somewhere is sticking pins into a doll bearing a striking resemblance to myself.

Race Report: Wilmslow Half-marathon 22/03/2015

It was ideal running conditions as I set of for Wilmslow Half Marathon this morning.

I get there early to make sure I got a parking spot and it was already really busy. Running Bear had a tempting aray of running gear for.sale but I resisted temptation and just had a quick look but don't buy anything.

Race Report: Hardmoors 55 21/03/2015

Well the time had come to go back to take care of some unfinished business.  Last year this race recorded my first ever DNF when I spectacularly collapsed at mile 40 this time I was determined not to succumb to the same fate.

The Hardmoors 55 is the normal sadistic run organised by Jon & Shirley Steele and their growing band of fabulous helpers. It takes in 55 miles of bonkers hill climbing rough and ready moorland steep descents and normally weather to keep even the maddest interested.

Club Trip! Dig Deep Camping Weekend 15/08/2015

This year we will be returning to Dig Deep for our Annual Camping trip.

It was a brilliant weekend last year, being able to support the runners on both day's regardless of whether they run on the Saturday or the Sunday.

Race Report: Oulton Park 10k 08/03/2015

Running three laps of Oulton Park Race Track wouldn't normally be top of my list of favourite runs, it just seemed slightly dull, seeing wide expanse of track ahead and little in the way interesting scenery.  However my fears were pleasantly unfounded, I quite enjoyed it!

Race Report: Stafford Half-marathon 08/03/2015

The timing of the Stafford 20 Race fitted perfectly with my training regime for the Manchester and London Marathons and as the entry fee was only £10 it seemed like an absolute bargain.

Race Report: Age UK Wrap Up & Run 10k 01/03/2015

Thankfully the rain stayed off as we approached Tatton Park. However it was cold and very windy. This was the first race for me since last June so I did not know what time to expect but hoped I’d get under the hour today.
