About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Members of Sandbach Striders Running Club continue to support the free weekly parkruns that continue to grow in all areas of the corner and increasingly internationally too.

Locally, twelve Striders ran the three laps of Astbury Mere which make up the 5k route of the Congleton parkrun. Evidently most Striders were still shrugging off their seasonal excesses as there were no new personal best times this week.

Fran Gilchrist continued his run of good performances at different parkruns around the country by participating in the one at Alexandra Park in North London. Known to locals as Ally Pally parkrun, the event consists of two laps of the 80 hectare landscaped park, nature reserve and borough of importance for nature conservation. Fran finished the course in 23:14

Michael Escolme travelled down to Stoke-on-Trent to participate in the Hanley parkrun. Michael completed the event in 31:14.

Sandbach Striders are a fun, welcoming and inclusive running club who welcome new members of all abilities. They pride themselves on providing a friendly and supportive atmosphere with an active social scene. If you are looking at improving your health and fitness in 2015 then running is an accessible, affordable and highly effective method of achieving this. Everyone is welcome to run with the Striders for a month with no obligation to join and they will always do their best to support you in the early days of your running programme.
