About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

"No Ordinary Running Club!"

It’s competition time!

It’s competition time!

Over the past year our membership has grown slightly and we are now at around (I think) 60 members-ish. For such a small club we over-achieve in so many ways. And that over-achievement forms the crux of the competition!

What I need from you is your best guess on these five questions:

a)    Striders crossed how many finishing lines in total in 2013?
b)    How many different races did Striders compete in?
c)    What was the total number of miles run in races by all Striders?
d)    How many races did our most prolific Strider run in 2013?
e)    How many different parkruns did we compete in?

There will be prizes, one for the nearest, one and one random one from all entrants – so get your maths hat on and get guessing!

Post your answers to chairman@sandbachstriders.co.uk and I’ll pick the winners on Wednesday 22nd January.

Small print:
Rules: By “races” I mean races also individual parkruns and triathlons, relay events count 1 for each Strider involved, club run events like our handicap 10k or the Krispy Kreme don’t count. If you think I’ve made any miscalculations, then tough, I’m not giving up another Friday night to do this again. Ref’s decision is final. Blah blah.
