As part of the Olympic legacy programme, Sandbach Striders are delighted to once more offer a series of free introductory running sessions.
The "couch to 5k" programme begins on Monday 2nd September and runs for 5 weeks. Each session is absolutely free and there is no-obligation to buy or join anything. At Sandbach Striders we all love running and the health and social benefits it brings and we want to share that with you!
it doesn't matter whether you have never run since childhood we will tailor an individual training plan for you and each week offer you support, guidance and training to help you achieve the target of running a 5k without stopping.
When you're ready we'll even take you along to the free 5k held at Astbury Mere each Saturday and cheer you round!
There's no need to let us know, just turn up at Elworth Cricket Club, London Road, Sandbach, CW11 3BF at 6:30pm on Monday 2nd September. Wear comfortable trainers and weather appropriate clothing that you feel comfortable exercising in. There's absolutely no need to be self-conscious and there's no need to be nervous, we were all new to running once ourselves and we all know that the hardest step in being a good runner is the first one.
We're not elite athletes and we're not doing this to show off, we're normal friendly people who took up running for a wide range of reasons. Come along and meet us and we'll get you running in no time!
We hope to see you there :-)
You can see details of our event on the Olympic Legacy website.

About us
Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.
The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.
Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being
"No Ordinary Running Club!"
