About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Race Report: Wrap Up & Run Tatton 10k 17/03/2013

This was a nice little 10k around Tatton Park in Knutsford, Cheshire in aid of age uk, the race started at 09:00am with one lap around Tatton park estate with a mix of trail paths and estate roads.

Race Report: Rhayader 20m 16/03/2013

I saw this race at the last minute advertised in Runner's World. Described as hilly, I thought it would be  a suitable challenge and good training for my upcoming ultra marathon.





So, I thought a nice weekend away in the camper would go down well, and with the race being on the Saturday I could do the race and enjoy the evening.

Today I ran the Stafford Half Marathon. When I first woke up to snow and ice I thought it might have been cancelled as normally they have more snow up that end, but alas it melted ever so quickly.

Congleton parkrun (5k) – Saturday 9th March

The eleventh parkrun to be held at Astbury Mere in Congleton was well attended with 85 runners taking part. Strider Chris Coppenhall finished in 4th place in a time of 20:02 followed by his father Terry Coppenhall in 8th place in 21:52.
