About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news: 27/06/2016

This weeks events by the Striders includes a 100 mile and a 5k charity run, 7 different parkruns, as well as good results at a great local 10k event.

On Thursday evening, Lynsey Astles, and Lindsay Beech took part in the r100 charity 24 hour 100 miler relay event, with some of their work colleagues. It is a charity event with proceeds going to Petty Pool Trust, Francis House Hospice. Lynsay and Lindsay completed a 10 mile stage of the event along canals, on off road sections and using head torches. Their team has so far collected over £12,600 so far.

On Saturday morning, sixteen Striders participated in no fewer than six parkruns, there were no personal bests, the results are as follows:

Also on Saturday, Kathryn Reed, and Katie Payne completed the Cancer Research Race for Life Tatton Park Pretty Mudder. The event involves a number of obstacles, and as the name suggest a lot of mud too.

On Sunday, not content with his 5k around Gadebridge, Adam Mayall took on his second parkrun of the weekend, this time at the Junior 2k event at Aylesbury. He was also coaching his cousin around his first parkrun. Adam completed the run in 11:09.

Finally on Sunday, 10 Striders supported and completed the local 10k event at Colshaw Hall near Knutsford. Three got personal bests (Liz O’Keeffe, Lynsey Astles, and Amy Norman). Full results as follows:
