This week's news: 16/05/2016

This week, Striders took park in various parkruns, colorful and bubbly 5ks, a local and not so local 10k, a local Half Marathon and a Sprint Triathlon.

The running week began early with 5 Striders taking part in the Clayton 10K, a popular evening event on an undulating course  around Newcastle. The full results were:

Also on Wednesday, Darren Varley took part in the Mad hatters 5mile trail race in Stockport, finishing in 33:11

This week saw the conclusion of the Couch to 5k programme.  10 weeks ago many of the participants had never run before and the thought of running none stop for 30 minutes was daunting. But on Saturday they came along to the weekly 5k parkrun at Astbury Mere and proved that with a little dedication and will power, the unthinkable was achievable.

It was a gloriously sunny day, great for those Striders who went along to cheer on those taking part in their first ever race. Congratulations to all the first timers and to Helen Childs who earned her herself a new personal best.
