About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news: 01/05/2016

It was a relatively quiet week for the Striders who took part in 10 parkruns, a local 5k, a Bulgarian 10k and a half marathon. Members of Sandbach Striders travelled far and wide for parkruns this week. Closest to home, seven Striders took part in Congleton parkrun, with David Sharp earning himself a personal best time.

Two Striders travelled to Delamere this week.  Martin Coleman completed the course in 20.57 and Tracey Surridge in 31.49.

Duncan Robertson was one of only 39 runners at Cheadle Hulme parkrun, 4  friendly, fun and  muddy laps around the football pitches. Duncan finished in 26.28.

On the opposite side of the county, Paul Barnett was at Birkenhead parkrun .  He finished in 21.47.

Chris Holden turned up at Colchester Castle parkrun.  Chris completing the course, run on paths in the grounds of Colchester Castle, in 26.20.

Lynsey Astles found herself running  3 grassy laps of Bught Park at the Inverness parkrun,  completing the course in 28.34.

Julia Dunlop was once at her now regular race, Conwy parkrun.  She completed the course in 31.11.

In Wiltshire, Hannah Gay ran the Southwick County parkrun in 31.53.

Finally, on his birthday eve, Grant Stanning took park in the Ellesmere Port parkrun, finishing in 33.16.

Liz O’Keeffe is still running hard in the Bulgarian heat, this week earning herself a new 10k personal best time of 52.03.

On Thursday  Tom Mayell and Darren Varley took part in the Mid-Cheshire 5k, a quick road race which began at Kingsley Cricket Club. Tom earned himself a personal best with a time of 21:01.  Darren completed the course in 17.59.

Only two striders were in action on Sunday.  Lou Hayward and Emma Riley ran the Red Kite Challenge half marathon.  This trail race is held around the spectacular beauty spot of Devil's Bridge which is about 20km East of Aberystwyth in West Wales. The ladies finished is 2.58.56.
