About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news: 28/01/2016

Members of Sandbach Striders running club took park in races with distances from 5km to 76km this weekend.

6.00am on Saturday morning saw 6 Striders begin the L2M Ultra, a 47 mile Ultra-Marathon following the Trans-Pennine Trail and the River Mersey from Liverpool to Manchester.  All six Striders finished with 10 hours and in the top 100 earning themselves a well deserved silver medal.



At the free weekly, and this week windy, 5k parkrun in Congleton ten Striders were in action with Catherine Winders earning herself a new personal best time.

Our roaming Chairman Michael Escolme ran the Hanley parkrun this week, finishing in a time of 36.06.

Duncan Robertson was in Wales for the  Penrhyn parkrun.  Duncan completed the course around Penrhyn Castle in 27.19.

On Easter Sunday 13 Striders took part in the Air Products 10K in Crewe.  With very few undulations, the course is one of the fastest in Cheshire.  Even in the wind a number of Striders achieved personal best times with Tracey Hale knocking around 5 minutes off her previous PB!

Steve and Gillian Fallows hopped over to  Delamere for the 5K Easter Bunny Dash. They experienced sun, wind, rain and hail over muddy and undulating course, taking in the quieter paths of Delamere Forest.
