Race Report: Shakespeare Marathon 27/04/2014

To PB or not to PB that is the question.

The Carnival
Marathon number 23.... How did that happen I ask myself? But happen it has and this time was a little bit of a novel experience for me, it was all about the Road. My last road marathon was back in October last year at Chester so this was going to be quite a test.

Race Report: Pyongyang Marathon, North Korea 13/04/2014

So... there I was, sitting having lunch at Kim Jon Un's ski resort with several high ranking officials, when after some light banter, a little too much vodka and being fed lemon gateaux by North Korea's minister for sport, he turned to me and said "you must come back in April and run our marathon"

During a not so light lunch with one of North Korea’s leaders
I smiled politely and said "I'd love to", not for one moment thinking he was serious or that once I'd got back to the UK he'd follow up our conversation with an official invite.

Kit Report: Salomon Fellraisers

Lot of good race reports on the website but fewer kit reports, I done one for OMM Jackets recently and the club members love of them that I’m sure will find its way to the front page soon. Anyhow, this is a kit report for the Salomon fellraiser trail shoe in blue for you fashion conscious people out there.

Race Report: The Three Shires 06/04/2014

The 3 Shires Marathon (or the oatcake hill climb)

at the start
I cannot believe a year has passed since I last ran this event. At that time, I was in the middle of a severe depressive episode whereby even getting out of bed was a journey never mind running a marathon.

Race Report: Sandstone 10k Trail 06/04/2014

Well one of my last comments on last year’s NSPCC race report was, “I’d do it again next year.” Well, I did! This time I dragged Gordon and Tolli around with me so a good morning’s exercise was had by the Hutchins gang.

Race Report: Greater Manchester Marathon 06/04/2014

We arrived to a typically grey and dull Manchester morning which all reports incorrectly said would turn into heavy rain at about 11, in fact, apart from a few spots, it never rained at all.

My target for the day was not only to beat the PB I set at Manchester last year (3:55:12) but to beat it significantly by getting under 3:45.

Race Report: Newcastle 10k 30/03/2014

Here is  my report for the Newcastle Under Lyme 10K which I ran today.
Liz with only a few hundred yards to go at the Newcastle 10K
What can I say, the weather was absolutely fabulous, just ideal for a nice 10K run. I felt really good as it was the first time I wore my shorts and vest and sunglasses on in one hit.
