On Saturday 23 December I got up and decided to run the Congleton park
run.
I met Tom and as we set off the rain was only just beginning. By
the time we got there it was a light shower. However, as soon as the
race was started the wind picked up and so did the rain. It was the
first time I had done the Congleton park run so was not too sure what to
expect. It’s definitely flatter than Hanley. There was a good turn out
from the club and I was pleased with my run as I managed to lap the old
lady with the dog. Unfortunately there was no time to hang around for a
coffee as we were all soaked through, maybe next time. This is a park
run that could help me get a 5K pb eventually, I just need to put in
more effort (after Xmas)!

About us
Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.
The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.
Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being
