Striders chairman Michael Escolme added yet another parkrun to his tally of 45 by running the Burnage parkrun (5k). Run in Varley Park in Stockport on a combination of grass and good quality paths. The recent rain added to the excitement by providing what looked like a small river crossing. Michael finished in 23:24

Coastal Trail Series - Anglesey Half and full Marathon + 10k – Sat 19/01/2013

Paul and Mat on the 10k course
The Isle of Anglesey (Ynys Mon) is situated off the North West coast of Wales near the beautiful Snowdonia mountain range. It is separated from the mainland by the Menai Strait. Anglesey has a dedicated coastal path running around the whole island. The cliffs have been shaped by the bracing Irish Sea, and the Isle is the new kid on the block as far as outdoor destinations go and one of the best 10k courses in the CTS series.

Organised by Endurance Life, this was due to be a fantastic days running but unfortunately the snow that arrived on Friday meant the races were in doubt and late on Friday evening the organisers took the difficult decision to cancel the marathon and half marathon but still hoped to run the 10k.

Paul Nicholls was planning on running the half marathon. Michael Escolme, Joanne Bulley, Jason Bulley and Mat Simister all planned to run the marathon.

The 10k race did take place later on Saturday and two Striders stayed to run this event, Paul Nicholls and Mat Simister.

The other popular event for Striders this weekend was the Essar four villages half marathon at Helsby, unfortunately this was also cancelled due to the snow and ice.
