About us
Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.
The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.
Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Crewe Déjà vu 2 reserve list is now closed.
The reserve list of the ever popular Crewe Déjà vu 2 track marathon has now been closed.
Sorry if you have been left disappointed but we have done our very best to accommodate every entrant within the confinements of the 50 person race limit.
The 2012 race sold out in record time this year - nearly 4 months ago in fact.
To all you lucky Déjà vu 2-ers the race pack will arrive by email imminently (and be posted on here for good measure) and we look forward to seeing you all on Sunday!

Race Report: Lichfield 10k 09/09/2012
I’d never heard of the Lichfield
10K run until it came up in a search for races in Staffs during the autumn. I
was looking for an on-road 10K race, hoping to beat my Super Six time, and have
got friends in Lichfield so signed up.
It was a reasonably early start,
I left Sandbach at 8.30 with 2 kids in the car looking

Race Report: RAB Mountain Marathon 06/10/2012
After a four hour drive and a very cold night camping (poor
choice of sleeping bag!), I rose on Saturday morning to glorious sunshine and
expansive views across Northumbria.

Sandbach 10k 2012 Results!
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Sandbach 10k this morning!
Once more we were blessed with terrific running weather, although the heavy rain of the past few weeks ensured some sections of the course had a little bit more mud than usual.

I
took a leaf out of Giles book and followed his pre race plan. On
Saturday I drank lots of fluid (even had water at the pub) and made sure
I had chicken and rice for tea. Next morning I got
up early and had some porridge and honey followed by a banana.
At 8 am
Perry arrived and we set off for the race. The day was cold and foggy.

Race Report: Brighton & Hove Parkrun 5k 01/09/2012
I’d only done one Parkrun before this race, but this event brought home to me what a great idea and organisation it is. We can get used to the idea that you have to book and
plan every race in advance, but a setup that lets you turn up on the day anywhere in the country, enter for free and get timings on the website the same day is much easier. In this

Race Report: Wythenshaw Parkrun 29/10/2012
A free Saturday means the chance to run another free 5k at a Parkrun somewhere. Whilst I might usually have nipped down the M6 towards Hanley park for the weekly run there, this time I fancied a change. I also fancied adding to my tally of 8 different Parkruns.
We are quite lucky in Cheshire in that although there are no Parkruns currently on our

Pre-Race Report: Chester Marathon 2012
There have been lot of post-race reports posted on the website but nobody yet has written a pre-race report - I thought I’d change that trend & commit myself to a target in the hope that this may provide the additional motivation I often require to make myself run well!
This weekend I am running the 2nd Chester Marathon & my aim is quite simple - to set a PB & also beat the club record currently held by Alan Pearson. The club record currently stands at 03:13:17 (set at last years Chester Marathon) which means running quicker than 07:22min/mile pace.
Last year the club had 14 entrants - this year it's just me! |
