About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news: 18/09/2016

It was a quiet week for Sandbach Striders who took part in 7 parkruns, a 10k and a Half Marathon.
Seven Striders took part in the Congleton parkrun at Astbury Mere, with Mick Hutchins earning himself a new PB for the course and Heather Carter coming in as second lady.  Full results were:

Duncan Robertson was in Newby Bridge for the Fell Foot parkrun, now in his top 4 of parkruns, finishing in 27:40.

Strider Amy and Tom Mayell ran Delamere parkrun with their son Adam. Adam finished in 28:01 and Tom a second later, with Amy coming in in 36:33.

Chairman Mik Escolme was in Stoke for Hanley parkrun.  Mik finished in 26:48.

Julia Dunlop ran the Conwy parkrun in 32:10 and Paul Barnett completed the Croxteth Hall parkrun in 21:12.

On Sunday, 4 Striders headed to Warrington to take part in the English Half Marathon series of events.  Lisa Highfield took part in the 10k, earning herself a new personal best time of 50.26.
Stephen Mclean, Claire Dalton and Lynsey Astles all went for the half marathon distance of 13.1 miles.  Their results were:
