About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news: 08/02/2016

It was a busy running weekend for the members of Sandbach Striders Running Club with club members crossing the finishing line in six different 5k parkruns as well as two other popular local races.

 At the free weekly Congleton parkrun, twelve Striders ran the three laps of Astbury Mere with Heide and Molly Pheasey being the only two to rack up new personal best times.

Craig Edwards opted to run the parkrun at Delamere Forest, completing the single lap route in a time of 21:53.

Duncan Edwards travelled north to Haigh Country Park near Wigan to participate in the Haigh Woodland parkrun. Duncan finished the course in a time of 26:23.

Michael Escolme ran the Glossop parkrun, based at Manor Park in Old Glossop on the edge of the Peak District. The three lap course is a challenging hilly, muddy and technical course around the grounds of what once was Glossop Hall. Michael finished the course in a time of 35:09.

Paul Barnet ran Croxteth Hall parkrun in Liverpool finishing in a time of 21:23.

Andrew Gibson was also in action at the Warrington parkrun finishing in a time of 28:03.

Sixteen Striders were in action at the annual running of the popular 5 mile road race at the Alsager 5. Steve Fallows, James Boon and Liz O’Keeffe all managed to run new personal best times.

Also in action further north in Southport were four Striders running the Mad Dog 10k. This popular 10k road race along the promenade in the Lancastrian seaside town always attracts a large crowd.
