About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news: 26/10/2014

14 Striders ran the free weekly 5k parkrun around Astbury Mere at the weekend.

Six Striders managed to record new personal best times. Craig Edwards, Stella Stilwell, Tim Woods, Lindsay Beech, Tracey Howe and Jan Walls all managed to beat their previous parkrun times.

Lou Hayward travelled over to Aberystwyth to run the parkrun in the popular Welsh seaside resort’s Plascrug park. Lou completed the run in a new 5k personal best time of 25:51

Also in action on Saturday were 4 Striders who travelled to Wales to participate in this year’s Snowdonia marathon. Starting in Llanberis the 26.2 mile route circles Snowdon crossing Pen-y-pass on its way to Beddgelert before passing the village of Waunfawr on its way back to the finish in Llanberis.

Also in action on Sunday was Chris Brumby who made his annual pilgrimage to the Leicester Marathon. Chris finished the race in 4:28:53

On Sunday it was the Halloween Hellraiser in Crewe, a 9 mile all-terrain route starts at Crewe Vagrants near Nantwich. Heather Carter came second female overall.

Sunday 2nd November, tour de Stoke-on-Trent. Meet at the club at 9am to lift share or in the top car park at Hanley park at 9:30am. It is now late to order a special memento but any Striders who still wish to join in are welcome to do so.
