The inaugural Delamere parkrun took place on Saturday at
Delamere Forest near Chester.
The course started from Ashton Road next to the Barnsbridge car
park and headed South towards Linmere for several hundred metres before turning
left at marker 56, left again at marker 62 and left once more at marker 61 down
to the lake path. Keeping Blakemere on your right-hand side you are treated to
stunning views of the lake as you complete one full lap before re-tracing your
steps back to the start via a nasty (but very short) little hill.
There was a great turnout for this inaugural run at Delamere
with 152 runners taking part including 13 from Sandbach Striders. Finishing
times were as follows….

Congleton parkrun (5k)
– Saturday 2nd March
Cloud 9 Hill Race (9 mile) – Sunday 3rd
March
Organised by Congleton Harriers and run under FRA rules this
is a scenic and challenging off-road race from Congleton to the summit of
Bosley Cloud (1,125ft) and back, via the ancient Bridestones (c2000 BC).
There was a great turnout as usual for this popular race
including 13 from Sandbach Striders. Our finishing times were as follows….

Pitsford Water
Marathon – Sunday 3rd March
Held in Brixworth Country Park, Brixworth near Nottingham,
this was a multi-terrain marathon with a race limit of 200. All profits from of
this event will go to Cynthia Spencer Hospice, Northampton, helping people to
over-come cancer.
The marathon route consists of 4 laps of approximately 6.56
miles per lap on well-defined footpaths and cycle ways around the reservoir.
Sandbach Striders chairman Michael Escolme entered, this
being his first of seven marathons in March. Michael finished in a time of 3:48
