Wednesday
night’s club run saw the 4th of the clubs summer series
of events – the Club Handicap, a race which anyone can win. After
a review of each member’s best times over the year and some
carefully considered calculations, Striders were sent off one by one
to run the 11k course with the aim to be the first Strider Home,
regardless of where in the order they started.
First
lady home was Lucy Lee, followed by June Wray and Jo Askey. First
male home was Matt Simister, followed by Kevern Roberts and Steve
Treweeks

Steve Fallows
entered the Ironman 70.3 Weymouth. The swim took place in Weymouth
Bay, with the stunning backdrop of the Jurassic Coastline. The
bike course offered speed, hills, and the charm of the Dorset
countryside. The multi-lap run took athletes around the town,
harbour and the historic Weymouth seafront, where sailing
competitions took place during the 2012 Olympic Games. Steve finished
in 5 hours 44.

The big race on
Sunday was the Sandbach 10k Sponsored by Butcher & Barlow. This
is the 11th year that this event has been held and each
year it gets better and better. Along side the main event, there was
a children’s fun run, bouncy castle, face painting, BBQ, cake
stall, live music, sports massage from Sandbach Physiotherapy, and a
pop up shop from Rosebank Sports. All the proceeds from the day are
to be donated to this year’s club charity Central Cheshire Buddies
Scheme, which supports children and young people with disabilities to
access a range of activities which they would not normally have the
opportunity to be involved with.
