About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Five Striders travelled north to the outskirts of Warrington to run the Birchwood 10k.

This week members of Sandbach Striders running club took over the organisation of the free weekly 5k parkrun at Astbury Mere near Congleton. Eleven Striders marshalled the event and cheered the 139 finishers over the line. Five Striders also ran the event with Denise Dowling earning herself a new personal best time.

Michael Escolme ran the Huddersfield parkrun, a two lap route around Greenhead Park, a late-Victorian grade 2 listed park. This parkrun is hugely popular with nearly 600 runners tackling the course. Michael finished in 31:32

Steve Treweeks was in Wales to run the 43 mile event ‘Run to the castle’. Steve finished the course in  9 hours and 24 minutes

Jo and Jason Bulley completed the Speyside Ultra, a 37 mile trail in Banffshire Scotland, starting in land and heading out to the coast. Jo finished in 7 hours 5 minutes with Jason coming in narrowly behind in 7 hours 25 minutes.

Entries for the Sandbach 10k on Sunday 6th September are still available but selling quickly! The tenth anniversary of this popular running event will also feature a family fun run for the children to join in. All 10k finishers will receive an attractive and unique medal, special anniversary memento and goody bag. Whilst the runners are running there will be a whole host of family friendly events, such as face painting, bouncy castle, live music, cricket taster sessions, ultimate Frisbee, cake decorating, art and craft activities. All proceeds go to supporting the work of the South Cheshire branch of the Samaritans. More details can be found at www.sandbachstriders.co.uk
