About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news: 10/08/2015

This week was the annual running of the Pie and Peas 5 mile trail race in the village of Moutlon near Northwich. Forty members of Sandbach Striders ran this popular event.

Sandbach Striders running club was represented in five different parkrun events round the country. Closest to home were the seven Striders who ran Congleton parkrun. Martin Coleman earned himself a new personal best time.

Three Striders travelled over to Wilmslow to run the parkrun at Wilmslow park, the full results were:

Fran Gilchrist once more found himself in North London running the Ally Pally parkrun in the grounds of Alexandra Palace. Fran finished in a time of 23:28.

Martin Gunther ran the Kings Lynn parkrun in a time of 20:01.

Michael Escolme ran his 60th different parkrun course at Oakwell Hall near Bradford in a time of 33:17.

Steve Fallows and Tony Taylor participated in The People’s Triathlon at Dearnford Lake, Whitchurch. Both opted to complete the Olympic distance which consists of a 1500 swim, 40 km cycle and a 10k run. Steve finished in a total time of 2:34:24 with Tony narrowly behind in 2:43:17.

Heather Carter and Paul Nicholls completed the Long Tour of Bradwell, a 33 mile route around the Peak District. Heather Carter finished in a time of 7:48:59 with Paul Nicholls narrowly behind in 9:57:26

Also in ultra-marathon action was Kate Jayden who completed the 105 mile route of the North Downs Way in 29 hours 23 minutes. The route starts in Farnham in Surrey and finished in Dover, passing through Guildford, Dorkin and Rochester on the way.
