The Braintree Boggle
Definitely more 'bog' than 'ogle', this run was not particularly pleasant.
I thought the toughest challenge of the day was going to be getting Jo out of the apartment before 5am but how wrong could I be?
Nearly
all of the 26.2 mile course round Braintree in Essex was covered in
that horrible thick, sticky mud that coats your shoes. It fills in the
gaps between any tread you may have on your soles which then means you
have less grip than if you were trying to run on an ice rink.
Much of the course was not runnable at all which meant the freezing wind took it's toll as we were forced to walk.
We
stuck at it though and whilst our legs are very unhappy at all the
sideways slipping, sliding and twisting we are both relieved to have
stayed upright and made it home safely.
I'd like to do it again but not if it's that wet.
