Having struggled to improve
on any of my Pbs this year, I decided a different tactic was needed so I entered
for a distance I have never run before therefore guaranteeing a pb.
Alan managed 84th place out of 345 finishers in 1.07.13 |
The race started and finished at the David Lewis centre, which is a centre for kids with epilepsy, autism and other learning difficulties, all the proceeds from the race go to the centre. The race was also part of the Cheshire series, which I did not know on entering, so all the fast lot were out! The race was well organised and set out, although the toilet queue was a bit long and I only just made the start line, and found myself in the middle.
The course consists of a 2 mile loop and then two 4 mile loops, so it is good for spectators when you pass the centre.
Kay 'masters' her way to a 9th in category place. |
Although it was loops the
course was not that bad on quiet country roads and only started to drag a bit
when I was at 8 miles on the last lap, but at least I knew what was coming, although
there is a bit of a hill at the end.
I thought I was the only Strider running , but then I met Kay Masters at the finish.
All in all it was a tough race, probably would
do it again though, however the best result of all was this-
This for me was the best result, a specially commissioned beer for all finishers! |
