Tonight I ran the Clayton 10K race
which is part of the NSRRA programme.
It was easy to get to as you just got off at Junction 15 of the M6 and turned left into
Clayton and headed to the Gatehouse Pub. You did have to park in the surrounding streets which was not too bad. I had a bit of a cough and sore throat but felt well enough to give this race a try as I had not run it before. The start of the race was a bit hectic as a runner tripped and a few fell over him and then we were all herded into to asingle line path past the pub which caused us to walk for a few seconds. I think the start could have been better!

The
course itself was ideal as it was two laps of undulating hills but
with some nice down hills so you could catch your breath . I did the
first 5K in 26 minutes and was hoping to do the same in the second half,
but after eating too many jelly babies I had to do a Paula Ratcliffe so
stopped for a minutes or two. I am going to stick to my Werners from
now on. I tried to keep up with Chris Walsh from South Cheshire
Harriers but he was like a whippet tonight and came in 2 minutes in
front of me. As this race is on a Wednesday night I’d definitely
recommend it. Some people said they got a pb on this 10K compared to
Market Drayton so it is worth a go.
More information is available on the NSRAA website.
