About us
Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.
The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.
Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being
"No Ordinary Running Club!"

This week's news: 13/06/2016
A hot week, interspersed with thundery storms, didn’t stop Striders getting out and about to take part in 3 fell races, 3 triathlons, a ‘alf marathon and 4 different parkruns.
On Thursday, 2 Striders headed to Wildboarclough for the Shutlingsloe Fell Race, one of the races making up the Staffordshire Moorland Summer Series. In short, the race is 3 ½ miles up to the top of Shutlingslow and 3 1.2 miles back down, with some running, some climbing and some free falling thrown in! Darren finished in 21st place in 31.06 and Liz in 48.51.
Race Report: Dysynni Trail Festival 12/06/2016
Situated just outside Twywn in West Wales, the Dysynni trail festival offers 5km, 10km and 15km distance races, all with a running and canicross event.
The courses begin at the walled garden at the former country estate of Ynysymaengwyn, in woodlands close to the Dysynni river, and weave through the woodland before heading along grassy tracks by the river. The 15km event I ran goes all the way to the coast and crosses the Dysynni bridge and also takes in a river crossing, where Twywn's professional photographer is waiting, taking the best race photos I've seen.

Race Report: Shuttlingsoe Fell Race 09/06/2016
I should have known when Darren said there was a 1,000 foot
climb that this was going to be a tough one. This race is part of a
series of 10 races.
The weather was great , ideal for running, but the mozzies
were out in force. We started on a bit of a hill and at 8 minutes were
still climbing then it levelled off.

Club Relay 2016: Results and Photos!
A big well-done to all participants in this year's Club Relay event! 46 Striders took part in the run in total, with another five marshalling and helping!
As is usual with this event, every attempt is made to make the teams as equal as possible - a very tricky task given we don't know who will attend on the evening.

Race Report: Slateman Triathlon 22/05/2016
Having completed the North West Sprint Triathlon in Sept 15 a few of my fellow Striders challenged me to take on the ‘Slateman Full Triathlon’ and despite my better judgement I joined up.
It’s probably worth pointing out that Slateman is a notoriously tough triathlon in Snowdonia consisting of a 1000m swim, 51Km cycle with over 700m ascent and an 11km run with around 360m ascent.
