Sandbach Striders at Congleton parkrun |
The graduates have done exceptionally well working up from being non-runners to running 5 kilometres (3.11 miles) without a break. a large turn-out of club members ensured each graduate crossed the line to ardent applause. In total, one in six runners crossing the finishing line that day were Sandbach Striders, spurred on by the extra support, with several demonstrated excellent results. Darren Varley broke his own personal best to finish in second place overall. Janet Burgess, Louise Hayward and Amy Norman, Barbara Evans and Helen Child all also recorded new personal best times.
