It was hot hot hot in Chester last Sunday but approx. 7000 runners took
part in the half marathon and with 500 fun runners, including my two
mini Tathams, tackling a lap of the Racecourse.
Jack was a super star
coming in the top third and running the whole mile. Orla was assisted
somewhat by Daddy but still got her medal which she was very pleased
with. The main race was exceptional in terms of organisation. The race
has really grown since I first ran it and there was fantastic support
along the route with bands playing and music to keep us going.
The mile
up hill at the end is a killer but I was pleased with 1:53:05. At 8
miles I was surprised to be overtaken by John Wright who had declined to
mention that he is a Strider on his entry form but he looked very
comfortable and must have aced his first half marathon. Well done also
to Jan - more Striders next year, this really is a great race!
