On
Saturday night, 20 Striders donned summer themed fancy dress and
headed out around Sandbach for the inaugural Pimms run, a 6 mile run
around Sandbach, stopping off at member’s houses for Pimms and
nibbles. The Striders set off about 6.30 from Elworth
Cricket Club, over the fields to the first venue where nibbles and
canapés awaited and of course a bucket full of Pimms! Needless to
say, the legs weren't too willing to get started again, but they all
managed to show willing and ran through town and even got a few waves
and beeps.
The next venue was at the bottom of mill hill lane where a variety of sandwiches and Pimms where on offer. Of note. It appears that everyone's favourite sandwich is the good old egg and cress!
Suitably refreshed and even less willing to run, they then made their way up onto the salt line to the third and final place of refreshment. Scones, strawberries and cream and Pimms of course were here and were delicious. As the clouds started to roll in, the Striders reluctantly left and made their way finally back to the club.

The only Strider racing on Sunday was Steven Mclean who took part in
the 2016 UK Fast We Love Manchester 10K, a charity road race around
Sportscity. He completed the course in 47.13.
