The Canal Canter Marathon organised by It's Grim Up North Running events was run on March 13th as an out and back circuit from
Leeds.
An inauspicious start at the race HQ - the actual race route was much more scenic! |
The race was well organised with plentiful feed stations and encouraging
marshals. There was a nice warm up from the race HQ to the start. The towpath
was plenty wide to run on.
Striders outside Salts Mill in Saltaire at around 10 miles |
The circuit had good scenery starting by
going through rural Yorkshire and the last six miles in Leeds city centre. The
finish line was staffed with lots of marshals congratulating runners, with a
supplied goodie bag and medal.
An impromptu ice cream at around 16 miles |
The finish also had plenty of supplies including
water, cake, alcoholic beverages and more. The run was worthwhile and a good
race to run. I can also recommend the ice creams from the ice cream van around
mile 18!
