About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

This week's news: 21/02/2016

Sandbach Striders embraced the parkrun tourism mantle this weekend, participating in no less than six different parkrun events around the country.

Eleven Striders ran the Congleton parkrun and Catherine Winders completed her first ever parkrun around Astbury Mere.

Grant Stanning travelled to Lyme Park to run the hilly one lap course around the beautiful National Trust property. Grant finished in 34:42.

Michael Escolme ran the Peter Pan parkrun in in Hull, which consisted of three laps around Peter Pan park west of the City. Michael finished in a time of 24:29.

Also running on National Trust property was Tony Taylor who was in Bangor North Wales to run the Penrhyn Park parkrun, finishing the wet and windy course in 20:06.

Duncan Robertson along with daughter Milly travelled to Wimslow to run the eponymous parkrun at The Carrs park close to Wilmslow town centre. Duncan finished in a time of 36:23.

Chris Holden on his way up north stopped off at Haigh Woodland parkrun near Wigan, to run the off-road parkrun route in a time of 39:43.

Chris was back in action the following day at the Great North-West Half-marathon in Blackpool. A strong headwind put paid to any fast times on this notoriously windy promenade route. Chris finished in 1:59:51.

Eight Striders  were in the North Wales seaside town of Rhyl to run the Rhyl 10 mile race.
