Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Race Report: Whitley10k 14/04/2013

When I heard about Whitley 10k, I was immdiatley drawn to it as it is near to Lake Budworth where I sail most weekends, so the opportunity to run in the morning and sail in the afternoon, was to good to miss!

The race has a reputation for being very well organised, and this was very evident with lots signs to the race start as well as an army of helpers and marshalls at the course itself.
The course route is essentially is down lots of quiet country lanes, very scenic, fairly flat, with a few hilly bits towards the end.

Sandbach Striders were represented by the two 'T's', Tony (Taylor) and Tom (?).  My race plan was to go out steady for the few kilometres and try and kick towards the end, but it never  quite happens that way, and by 7k I was running out of steam. Somehow I managed to my legs turning and finished in a respectable 40mins 53 secs (33rd out of 320), Tom I think finished in 48mins.

Overall the race was very enjoyable, and both Tom and I agreed we would definetly
do it again.
